First Baptist Church
of La Veta
La Veta, CO
May 26, 2004
La Veta is a town of less than 1000. Established in 1862 as Fort Francisco.
The first Post Office, named Spanish Peaks, opened in the Plaza in 1871. In
1876 the narrow gauge railroad came through La Veta several blocks north of
the Fort on its way westward through the newly surveyed La Veta Pass. In
1877 the permanent rail depot was built beside the rails and the business
community slowly moved north to it. The church according to the sign on the
front was built in 1877. |

The pastor's wife makes dolls and has won many awards for them. She also
sells them. We thought we would share pictures of a few of the dolls with
you.

Morrison Community Church
Morrison, CO
August 15, 2004
Morrison is another small mountain town west of Denver at the
foot of the mountains with a population of less than 500. The Morrison
Community Church building was built in 1876 the year that Colorado became a
state. This seems to be the year for singing in historic churches.

Megan playing the pump organ. She had a hard time trying to figure out how
to turn it on. Seems it had no 'ON' switch. |
